Providence, RI – The Rhode Island House of Representatives in a profound show of inclusionary support passed legislation earlier this evening legalizing same-sex marriage in Rhode Island. In a crushing 51-19 vote, proponents of equality sent forth the message that the House legislature would not discriminate against its gay and lesbian constituents, upholding legislation removing the traditional definition of marriage as between one man and one woman.
One step closer to full passage, the bill now faces approval by the Senate who may not take up the issue until Spring.
