Special thanks to the photographers of yore who preserved history visually and in prose. The Providence Journal staff covered the entire state from Napatree Point to Woonsocket, chronicling damage and destruction with equipment much less portable than what we use today. The photography was superb. In a 1938 pictoral publication, The Great Hurricane and Tidal Wave Rhode Island September 21, 1938 the Projo preserved history. The cost of the publication in 1938 – just 35 cents.  ~ Tracey C. O’Neill
