Narragansett – Newly sworn Fire Chief, Scott Partington took his oath of office on Monday night in council chambers before family, friends, residents and a full compliment of IAFF Local 1589.
Members of the department accompanied by honor guard marched into chambers to support the chief, who after taking his oath got right to work honoring his department and handing down promotions.
“It’s essential, I think, as a chief, to be able to have a vision. It’s a vision that really should be easily attained. It shouldn’t be difficult,” said Partington. “That’s what is meant to be. With the help of the men and women here and with the support of this community, I hope to institute some change.”
After thanking the community and his fellow firefighters, Partington turned the spotlight to two department members, Lt. Gregory Anderson and Firefighter Charles LaCoste, promoting them to Fire Captain and Fire Lieutenant, respectively.
Official pinning ceremonies were carried out by family members with the Chief being pinned by his son, while Anderson and LaCoste received pins from their wives.
