Taunton, Ma – The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Warning for the Pawcatuck River in Rhode Island and Connecticut, effecting Washington and New London Counties until Tuesday morning or until cancelled.
The NWS warning issued for the Pawcatuck River at Westerly, RI estimated that four to five inches of rain fell in the headwaters of the Pawcatuck overnight. Minor flooding was predicted for the lower Pawcatuck River.
According to NWS, the Pawcatuck was at flood stage of 7.00 Feet as of 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The river was predicted to rise to near 7.9 feet after midnight Sunday and fall below flood stage by Tuesday morning.
