Warning Extended for Pawcatuck River Flooding

Taunton, MA – The National Weather Service has extended the flood warning for the Pawcatuck River at Westerly, affecting Washington and New London Counties until further Notice.

The river was at 9.1 feet as of 4:00 p.m. Monday evening. Flood stage for the Pawcatuck is 7.0 feet. According to the NWS, moderate flooding is occurring and is expected.

Expected impact for lowland flooding was anticipated from the village of Hopkinton downriver through Westerly, with predicted floodwater inundation to the lowest lying homes along Hiscox Road. Flooding was also predicted for homes in French Village, Hopkinton.

Warning was also extended for the Pawcatuck River at Wood River Junction, Richmond, RI affecting Washington County.

 Crossing into Connecticut

Impact in neighboring Stonington and North Stonington, Connecticut included lowland flooding, and inundation on Route 49 by the North Stonington and Stonington town line.

Pawtuxet River Flood Warning Continues

NWS Flood Warning also continues for the Pawtuxet River at Cranston, affecting Kent and Providence Counties.
