BOSTON – A USGS confirmed earthquake occurred 1 mile (2km) east-southeast of Holliston, Massachusetts at 8:19 PM EST on Tuesday. The location of the event was approximately 21 miles west-southwest of Boston and centered in Millis and felt in the towns of Holliston and Medway.
Dr. John Ebel of the Weston Observatory at Boston College was reported on social media as confirming the earthquake. The Weston Observatory provides real-time earthquake monitoring through the New England Seismic Network (NESN).
No injuries or structural damage were reported by police and fire in surrounding towns.
Social media lit up with reports of a loud bang and shaking buildings.
