Trump put up insurmountable numbers that challengers, Kasich and Cruz couldn’t touch. In Rhode Island and Delaware he took more than 60 percent of the vote.
In Delaware, Trump commanded a 40-point lead over Kasich in second at 20 points. In New England states, again with a 40 point lead over Kasich in Rhode Island, and another Trump 40-point spread in Connecticut.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz had his best showing in Pennsylvania where he took second place with 22 points, finishing 35 points behind Trump. In the four remaining states, he failed to breach the 20 point mark.
National Polling by Real Clear Politics on Tuesday night showed Trump consistently climbing and opening up his lead over Cruz and Kasich, whose numbers were in the decline. “I just want to tell you, for the five states, I am so honored,” Trump said. “This is the biggest night.”
