Ray Cooney, host of Firehouse Kitchen calls all firefighters to rally in NYC Monday, June 6 in support of Coventry Rhode Island firefighters and the American Flag. “Calling firefighters terrorists for flying the American flag is ridiculous,” Cooney said. Video Courtesy Firehouse Kitchen/Fire News
The heat is on after the Central Coventry Fire District, Fred Gralinski ordered the takedown of American Flags and called his district’s own firefighters terrorists. Speaking in opposition to the firehouse flying the American flag on the back of their trucks, Gralinski said,
“They look like a bunch of yahoos like you see in the paper, like Isis going into Syria to take over a city. I don’t think they need that big flag on the back of the truck because that’s not America to me. Those are a bunch of terrorists.”
Fox and Friends upon reporting the story, decided to rally in support of the Rhode Island firefighters, inviting firefighters from across the nation to gather together on Monday, in New York City with American flags in tow, to show support for CCFD.
The text of the invitation is below:
“We call on firefighters across the nation to stand together against Chairman Gralinski’s disrespect of our national symbol.”
SHOW YOUR PRIDE!
Monday, June 6th
6 a.m. – 9 a.m.
We invite all firefighters to join us on our plaza at W. 48th St. and 6th Ave. in New York City. Show up in uniform, bring your trucks, and wave the American flag with pride!
Firefighters are everyday heroes, serving the people of this country. FOX & Friends celebrates these heroes and their right to wave the American flag!
Retired FDNY firefighter, Ray Cooney, the host of Firehouse Kitchen, joined FOX and FDNY to rally his brethren to the cause. Cooney called the situation as it was, ridiculous. Joined by Jimmy Forest of the Harrison, NY Fire Department, in a short video (posted) to explain the situation. Harrison FD Engine 12, proudly displaying the American flag was central to their message.
“According to Rhode Island officials, Cooney said, “American Flags mean that we are terrorists.” Terrorists, the two exclaimed! This is ridiculous!”
